Catching up on Life

The day finally arrived. It stood proud and tall. This time maybe it wouldn't fall. A 150 foot high internet tower. Who could ever say it's a thing of beauty especially when it standing in my back yard but hey, it's going to give us faster internet! Having had dial-up for so long, we realize something faster is better than nothing. This certainly isn't going to be RoadRunner service but we're happy to have something that will allow us to communicate better via the internet. Hopefully now, I will be able to blog on a little more regular basis.
I suppose I should just catch you up a bit on what has been happening these last few months. I know it been longer than that since I wrote but it would take me forever long to write out everything that has been happening. Hopefully our newsletters have reached you to keep you up to date on the business of life here.

The end of May brought a welcome gift to us - Grandma Kooistra! Grandma came to visit for two whole months and we loved every minute of it. It was wonderful for me to see my kids enjoy their Grandma and I loved having her company around the house. We didn't do a whole lot of touristy things - sorry, Grandma - but she certainly saw what the daily grind looks like for us. June brought Grandpa here too. David put Grandpa to work building a shop on the back of the house so he stayed busy for the month he was here.
The kids were on school break for those first two months of summer. There was fishing and swimming and a few boat rides. The kids loved showing Grandma how they rode the four-wheeler and Lauren on the motorcycle. But we had quiet times too of reading or puzzles. Grandma was great at keeping them busy and I sure do miss her now.
David is enjoying the shop he and Dad built. Honestly, I am quite appreciative of their work too because you would be amazed at how many tools and gadgets and stuff went from the house cupboards and corners, into the shop where it always should have been. Thanks Dad for all your help.

We also had our friends the Brocks visit for two weeks and that was a busy but fun time. So when Mom and Dad and the Brocks were gone, I had one week to catch my breath, prepare a bunch of meals for the freezer and then Dean and I went on to Lima to see some doctors about his educational needs. That week was stressful and yet good all at the same time. By Friday though, I called David in tears "what if I don't understand what the doctors are saying or I don't ask the right questions." Needless to say I felt a bit pressured to "take it all in." In the end, the doctors were great, explained everything I needed to know and made their recommendations. We came home to one happy daddy and three happy kids. Five days later, we had another Wycliffe family visit from Cusco so this past week we have been busy doing "something" each day whether it be going out for lunch, or going to a pool or the zoo...it's been fun just to have other kids around for my kids to play with.
Next week Lauren will attend a basketball camp put on by a visiting summer team from the USA. She will likely stay in town with friends so we won't have to drive her in every day. That will make it quiet around here. I suppose I should start prepping Dean for school starting in a few weeks and refresh Adrianna on the reading and math we were supposed to be perfecting this summer. Uh oh. That didn't quite happen. It turned out to be a tad bit busier than I anticipated.
If you remember to pray for us this next month, please pray that the Lord would make it very clear what is to happen this next year for the kids schooling. Please pray also that I would be able to hire a househelper. I am praying very specifically that the Lord will bring a Christian lady to me who will be compatible with our family and will be a hard worker while I am away at school. I also need to find a nanny for Judah for the hours I will be in the classroom. If it is at all possible, I would love the opportunity to continue studying Spanish but I don't see how this can work out right now or who would be my tutor. I would appreciate your specific prayers for these things.
