Of course you have heard of the "writing on the wall." There are times we all want to experience that just to have our answer from God and know we got it right! Well, I got my writing on the wall, not literally, but all the same it was very clear. Thank you Lord for making your will KNOWN to me.
In the last blog I mentioned about our impossible school situation. Well, we serve a God who specializes in impossibilities and as it turns out both the school administration along with David and I agreed that our current schedule at SAM Academy was not benefiting my kids. It wasn't fun for anyone. We scheduled our meeting after our nine week trial was up to discuss how things were going and for the most part it was a positive report. David and I were pleased. But Dean was not receiving the one on one help that he needs and Adrianna being in a class for the first time adapted quickly and amazingly well but her teacher felt like she wanted to give her that extra attention that she didn't have time to give. We all agreed that homeschooling would be a better fit for our kids this year.
So I put the kids on a "fall break" for a few days and we prepared to home school. We gathered their books from the school, along with all their pencils and markers and all those supply goodies they were given. We pulled desks out of storage and made bulletin boards. I started lesson plans and tried to figure out how I was going to pull this off. We started school last Wednesday. So far, so good.
We are currently doing school in our cool room which is not ideal. You could pray that we might be able to find a space outside of our home that would work for schooling or that we would be able to find creative ways to rearrange enough as to create a big enough space in which to work. Pray also for Judah who does not like to be shut out and yet creates a little too much chaos when he is in the room with us. Even he is getting more used to the new schedule and wasn't such a handful today. I have neighbors who are willing to help with him so it will really help when we can get him going out the door to spend time with his "aunts".
Pray for each of the kids as they get acquainted with homeschooling and with me as their teacher. I want to have fun with them and already I see glimpses of the fun we can have if we can get past the disappointment that they are no longer with their friends. It wasn't an easy decision but we do feel it is the best for them right now.
SAM Academy is in critical need for teachers right now. If more teachers do not come they will first close down elementary - so we probably would have ended up homeschooling anyways - and further down the line it's possible the whole school will close until the mission can recruit an adequate staff. We don't understand why it has come to this. It affects so many families even to the point of those families leaving the field so they can care for the needs of their kids. Pray with us that God would work again in this seemingly impossible situation because as I already know - God is in the business of making impossible situations into very real and workable blessings.
